筆譯技巧：正說反譯

英語里的“含蓄否定詞”一般譯為漢語的否定詞：

名詞

absence（不在，毫無）

neglect（不留心，沒人管）

avoidance（不采?。?br />
defiance（無視）

exclusion（排除）

freedom（通常和from連用，表”不…；無…的”）

lack（無，缺乏）

refusal（不愿,不允許）


如：

Absence of competition makes for sloth.
沒有競爭會導致懶惰。（absence此處反譯為”沒有，毫無”）

She acted in defiance of my orders.

她無視我的命令行動了。

筆譯技巧：

動詞

fail to do（未做到）

miss（未打中，未見到，未達到；不懂，不理解，不明白；趕不上，抓不住）

forbid（不準）

ignore（不理會，不考慮）

hate（不想，不愿意）

上述詞可以正著譯，也可以反著譯使句子更加通暢。

如:

 Many of Britain's beaches fail to meet minimum standards of cleanliness.

英國許多海灘連最起碼的衛生標準都達不到。

 She narrowly missed hitting him.

她差一點沒打著他。

The hotel is the only white building on the road─ you can't miss it.

酒店是這條路上唯一的白色建筑——你不會看不見的。

I hate to rush you but I have another appointment later on.
我真不想催你，但我稍后還有一個約會。

筆譯技巧：形容詞

deaf （不聽，置之不理）

blind（看不到，不注意）

absent（不在，不到）

poor（不好的，不幸的）

last（最不…的）

 He would be the last person who would do such a thing.
他最不可能干這種事情。


 All the time I was blind to your suffering.
一直以來，我都沒有意識到你遭受的痛苦。

筆譯技巧：反說正譯

即英語中的否定詞（一般為派生詞）譯為漢語的肯定。這種”形否意肯”的表達我們在上一篇也列舉過，現在補充一些單個的詞。

名詞

 Dishonesty is ultimately self-defeating.
弄虛作假最終會自食其果。（dishonesty譯為”欺詐，弄虛作假”）

 He may be able to nullify that disadvantage by offering a wider variety of produce.
他也許能通過供應更為多樣化的農產品來抵消那一劣勢。（disadvantage譯為”劣勢，缺陷”）

筆譯技巧：

動詞

 It took internal whistle-blowing and investigative journalism to uncover the rot.
內部檢舉和調查性報道揭露了這一腐敗事實。

形容詞

The structure has an indefinite life.
這是一座永久性的建筑物。（“無限的”→”永久的”）

 It was an acutely uncomfortable journey back to London.
那是一次極其痛苦的返回倫敦的旅行。（“不舒服”→”痛苦的”）

 There was something about this which struck Carrie as slightly inconsiderate.
